| Obverse description | Traditional Nepalese square geometric design occupying the central field, featuring a small trident (trishul) within a circle at the very centre, flanked by four auspicious Hindu symbols in the quadrants: a stylised sun, a conch shell, a lotus flower, and a chakra (wheel). The royal name and titles of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev are inscribed in Devanagari script within the stepped rectangular frame. A beaded border encloses the entire design, with the Bikram Sambat date २०५२ appearing at the base. |

Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, this coin was part of a coordinated global commemorative program in which dozens of member states produced their own issues during 1995. Nepal had been a UN member since 1955, joining in the early years of its modern constitutional history. At 28 grams in copper-nickel, it circulated more as a keepsake than currency — the denomination was real but the weight made pocket carry impractical.
