Obverse description Traditional Nepalese square geometric design occupying the central field, featuring a small trident (trishul) within a circle at the very centre, flanked by four auspicious Hindu symbols in the quadrants: a stylised sun, a conch shell, a lotus flower, and a chakra (wheel). The royal name and titles of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev are inscribed in Devanagari script within the stepped rectangular frame. A beaded border encloses the entire design, with the Bikram Sambat date २०५२ appearing at the base.

Additional information

Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, this coin was part of a coordinated global commemorative program in which dozens of member states produced their own issues during 1995. Nepal had been a UN member since 1955, joining in the early years of its modern constitutional history. At 28 grams in copper-nickel, it circulated more as a keepsake than currency — the denomination was real but the weight made pocket carry impractical.
