Obverse description Central field bears the Hijri regnal date rendered in flowing Nastaliq calligraphy, with AH 1278 prominently displayed. Additional Arabic inscriptions fill the upper and lower portions of the flan in characteristic South Asian hammered style. The legends are arranged in horizontal bands across the coin's surface, framed by a plain border. Reverse description The reverse bears multiple lines of Arabic calligraphic inscription in Nastaliq script, arranged in horizontal registers across the field. The legends reference the ruling authority of Bahawal Khan IV and are characteristic of Bahawalpur Princely State coinage of the period. The script flows in the fluid, cursive manner typical of hammered rupees from this region. A plain border frames the flan, and the irregular edge reflects the hand-struck production method.
