| Opis awersu | Central field occupied by three horizontal registers of bold Arabic calligraphy in the Nastaliq script. The uppermost register bears the royal epithet and the name of Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir, while the middle register contains the AH regnal date. The lower register carries the opening hemistich of the 'badr munir' couplet, a poetic Persian verse praising the sovereign. The entire inscription is framed by a plain linear border near the rim. The strike is characteristic of Mughal hammered coinage, with slightly irregular flan edges. |
