| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a Persian calligraphic inscription arranged in three horizontal registers, executed in the Nasta'liq script characteristic of Mughal imperial coinage. The central and upper registers carry the celebrated 'badr munir' (full moon) couplet, reading 'sikka zad dar jahan chu badr-e munir / Shah Aurangzeb Alamgir' — a poetic legend proclaiming the emperor's sovereignty over the world like a brilliant full moon. The Hijri regnal year appears in the lower register in Eastern Arabic numerals. The flan is hand-struck and slightly irregular at the periphery, consistent with standard hammered Mughal rupee production. |
