Kishangarh was among the smaller Rajput princely states that retained the right to strike silver coinage well into the twentieth century — a privilege increasingly anomalous as the Crown increasingly pressured Indian states to abandon local issues in favor of British India rupees. The "Anonymous" designation reflects a deliberate archaism: Kishangarh's rulers chose not to place a ruler's name on these coins, a tradition rooted in Mughal-era vassal minting conventions that some states preserved long after it ceased to be politically required.
The KM#12.2a variety distinguishes a subtle compositional shift within the series run, though the long production window from 1902 to 1938 means individual specimens are rarely attributable to a specific year of striking.
