| Reverse description | Hammered silver flan with a two-line Persian legend in the field, divided by a horizontal rule. The upper register reads 'Zarb Chinchwar' (struck at Chinchwad), and the lower register contains the formula 'Sana Julus Maimanat Manus' (regnal year of auspicious accession), identifying the mint and the regal year of Shah Alam II. The bold Nastaliq script is characteristic of Maratha issues struck in the name of the Mughal emperor. The numerals indicate regnal year 6, corresponding to AH 1189 (1775 CE). Edges are irregular, consistent with hammered coinage of the period. |
