| Obverse description | The obverse bears a bold Persian legend in Nastaliq script arranged within a rectangular cartouche framed by two horizontal lines, a characteristic feature of late Mughal-style rupees. The central field displays the royal epithet 'Badshah Ghazi' in large calligraphic characters, flanked by decorative dot and diamond ornaments. Additional legend lines above and below the cartouche complete the imperial titulature invoking the name of the Mughal emperor Alamgir II. The design follows the established Mughal monetary tradition maintained by the Bombay Presidency for trade coinage issued for the Malabar Coast. |
