| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a densely composed Persian-script legend in flowing Nasta'liq calligraphy, arranged in four hemistich lines radiating around a central floral or foliate cartouche. The central motif consists of an ornate lobed medallion containing interlaced calligraphic elements. The surrounding field bears the poetic couplet invoking divine authority and praising Ahmad Shah, with the royal name prominently integrated into the composition. The die-work is characteristic of the Durrani hammered tradition, with bold, deeply incised strokes and slight flan irregularity typical of hand-struck coinage of the period. |
