| Obverse description | The obverse bears bold Arabic calligraphic legends in the Nastaliq script, arranged in two registers separated by a horizontal line across the field. The upper register contains the name and titles of the Mughal emperor Ahmad Shah Bahadur, rendered in large, deeply struck characters with pellet ornaments scattered throughout the field. The lower register continues the imperial titulature. The overall design follows the standard Mughal rupee format of the period, with the flan exhibiting the characteristic irregular, slightly flan-cracked appearance typical of hammered coinage. |
