Obverse description Central field dominated by bold Arabic calligraphic legends struck in the characteristic hammered style of late 19th-century Afghan coinage. The inscription reads the mint formula referencing Qandahar as the seat of sovereignty, arranged in multiple lines across the flan. A decorative foliate or vegetal motif surmounts the central text, serving as an ornamental device above the legend. The border consists of a repeated oblique stroke or cable pattern encircling the field, typical of the Qandahar mint production under Abdur Rahman Khan. The flan is irregular in outline, consistent with hand-struck hammered coinage of the period.
