Gokak, a minor mint town in the Deccan, became active during Aurangzeb's prolonged southern campaigns — a military commitment that consumed the last three decades of his reign and ultimately drained the empire's administrative coherence. The honorary title "Abdul Rauf Khan Diler Jang" appearing on this issue identifies the mint master rather than the emperor, a naming convention that creates persistent attribution headaches for collectors working across provincial Mughal issues.
