Beschrijving voorzijde The State Emblem of Sri Lanka occupies the central field, depicting the Sri Lanka Lion — a golden lion passant holding a sword in its right forepaw — set within a circular sun-rayed roundel. Surrounding the roundel is a ring of petals, with a Dhamma Chakra (eight-spoked wheel) at the apex. At the base of the emblem, a stylized pot of plenty (punkalasa) rests on a decorative plinth flanked by a crescent moon to the left and a sun to the right, all above two lotus petals. The design is rendered in high relief against an unadorned field, with segmented reeding visible at the rim.

Aanvullende informatie

Sri Lanka's rupee coinage underwent a quiet but significant revision in the early 2010s as the country transitioned away from nickel-brass and copper-nickel alloys toward stainless steel — a cost-driven decision accelerated by rising global metal prices following the 2008 financial crisis. The KM#136.3a designation marks a compositional variant within the 136 series, distinguishing this stainless steel iteration from its predecessors.
