| 裏面の説明 | Lightly printed trial impression in pale brown on cream paper, the entire surface covered by a dense guilloche-style arabesque underprint of interlaced foliate scrollwork. A decorative cartouche at upper right remains unfilled, and the overall impression is faint and without completed intaglio finishing, consistent with a reverse trial proof. |

India's 1 Rupee notes issued under the Government of India's Treasury authority have a long history, but the 1920 date places this squarely in the post-WWI period when British India was managing significant currency pressures — wartime inflation had badly eroded public confidence in smaller denominations, and the 1 Rupee note was filling a gap left by the near-disappearance of silver rupee coins from circulation.
Pick 1A is among the scarcer early signatures in the series. Paper quality on surviving examples is frequently compromised by the climate conditions of the subcontinent.
