| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is printed in blue and pink on a light ground, with a large ornate guilloche vignette at left centre bearing the numeral "1" in blue intaglio. The title "THE GOVERNMENT OF CEYLON" runs across the top, with the promise-to-pay text and denomination "ONE RUPEE" inscribed in a horizontal band across the centre. The date "Colombo, 1st May 1917" and two manuscript signatures appear below the denomination, with the issuing authority "FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF CEYLON / COMMISSIONERS OF CURRENCY" at lower right, and the printer's imprint "THOS. DE LA RUE & C° L™ LONDON" at the bottom margin. |
