At each lateral margin the bold numeral "1" appears in large letterpress type, while the central panel carries the title "Darlehnskassenschein" in Gothic blackletter across the top, with the value "Ein Rubel" in large serif type below; the place and date "Posen, den 17. April 1916" and the issuing authority "Ostbank für Handel und Gewerbe, Darlehnskasse Ost" follow in smaller roman type above three facsimile signatures. A counterfeiting warning legend in small roman text runs along the lower margin. |

Three columns of counterfeiting warnings in Polish, Lithuanian, and Latvian respectively occupy the lower portion of the note. |
