| Reverse description | A stylized rooster rendered in decorative relief occupies the central field, depicted in a dynamic pose characteristic of Chinese zodiac iconography. To the left, the Cyrillic inscription 'ГОД ОГНЕННОГО ПЕТУХА' (The Year of the Fire Rooster) runs vertically. The numeral '2017' appears to the left side of the design, with a Chinese character or hieroglyph symbolizing the year 2017 positioned above the rooster. The overall composition reflects the traditional Chinese lunar calendar artistic style. |

Transnistria — the sliver of territory between Moldova and Ukraine that declared independence in 1990 but remains unrecognized by any UN member state — issues coins primarily as collector pieces rather than circulating currency. The Transnistrian Republican Bank has produced a consistent run of Chinese zodiac roubles since the mid-2000s, a commercially motivated series with no particular tie to the region's population or culture.
KM#247 is one of twelve in that zodiac set. Nickel-plated steel kept production costs low for what was always an export-facing issue.
