Issued by the Transnistrian Republican Bank to commemorate the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan — an event of 1989, not 1945, which explains the deliberate dual dating. The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field references Victory Day symbolism embedded in the series, tying the Afghan campaign retrospectively to the broader Soviet martial narrative. Transnistria has used commemorative single-rouble notes as a regular vehicle for Soviet-era anniversaries since the 2000s, effectively treating low-denomination paper as a medal substitute.
The note holds no meaningful purchasing power in the unrecognised republic's own economy. It circulates primarily among collectors.
