Obverse description At center, the double-headed eagle emblem of the Russian Federation rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, with wings spread and both heads facing outward. The Cyrillic denomination legend ОДИН РУБЛЬ arcs along the upper periphery, while the issuer inscription БАНК РОССИИ curves along the lower portion, separated from the central device by a fine beaded inner border. To the lower left of the eagle, the silver fineness mark Ag 900 appears in Latin characters, and the weight denomination 15.55 appears to the lower right, flanked by the Saint Petersburg Mint mark. The date 2003 г. is inscribed in the exergue.
