Additional information

Slutsk belts — ornate silk and gold sashes worn by Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth nobility — were produced in the town of Slutsk from the 1750s onward at a manufactory established by Michał Kazimierz Radziwiłł. They became one of the most prestigious luxury goods in 18th-century Eastern Europe, with a single belt sometimes costing more than a horse. Production continued until 1844, and fewer than 200 authenticated examples survive today across museum collections.

Belarus has issued multiple collector coins referencing this tradition. This copper-nickel circulation-quality piece belongs to a broader series rather than the higher-denomination silver issues with silk thread inlays that preceded it.
