| 裏面の説明 | A crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed, wings spread, holding an orb in its right talon and a sceptre in its left; on its breast, a central shield bearing the mounted figure of St. George slaying the dragon. The date 1730 appears above the eagle, and the abbreviated legend is distributed around the field. The design is a modern fantasy recreation evoking the style of Peter II roubles. |

This is a 2009 commemorative restrike honoring the coinage of Peter II, who ruled for just three years before dying of smallpox in 1730 at age fourteen — the last male Romanov in the direct line of Peter the Great. The original 1730 rouble was among the final coins struck in his name, with his reign ending so abruptly that succession planning had been entirely neglected, throwing Russia into a succession crisis resolved only by the elevation of Anna of Courland.
The Russian Federation has issued numerous such restrikes through the Bank of Russia's commemorative program. Collector demand, not historical rarity, drives these.
