Issued as part of Russia's long-running series commemorating the ministries and agencies of the Russian Federation, this rouble marks the 200th anniversary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — founded by Alexander I in 1802 as part of his sweeping administrative reforms that restructured the imperial government along ministerial lines, replacing the older collegial system inherited from Peter the Great.
