Transnistria's commemorative rouble program has produced dozens of issues since the early 2000s, largely as collector pieces rather than circulating currency — the breakaway state's de facto monetary system operates in parallel to any formal international recognition, which it has never received. The Memorial of Glory in Slobozeya commemorates Soviet war dead and remains an active site of civic ceremony in a region where Second World War memory is central to official identity.
