Krasnaya Rechka was a prisoner-of-war camp near Khabarovsk in the Russian Far East, operating during the extraordinarily chaotic period following the October Revolution when central monetary authority had effectively collapsed across Siberia. Local commanders and institutions issued their own scrip out of practical necessity — no reliable supply of official currency was reaching the region. This note is one such improvised solution, created to manage internal transactions within the camp rather than circulate in the broader economy.
The Pick/Campbell reference Camb#6957 places it within the vast body of Russian Civil War-era notgeld and camp currency, a category where forgeries and later fantasy issues are a genuine concern.
