Issued by the Transnistrian Republican Bank — itself an institution of a state unrecognized by any United Nations member — this 2023 note continues a series of commemorative "Golden Chervonets" roubles that occupy an awkward position between collectible novelty and functional tender. Transnistria's rouble circulates only within its own narrow strip of territory between the Dniester River and the Ukrainian border, backed by no internationally recognized sovereign and pegged informally to the Russian rouble.
