Belarus has issued an extensive run of bimetallic and base-metal wildlife coins since the early 2000s, largely targeting the thematic collector market rather than circulation. This copper-nickel rouble belongs to a broader fauna series that has included dozens of bird types, each assigned the same denomination despite the rouble having undergone a redenomination in July 2016 — dropping four zeros — which reset the collector coin program under a new numbering framework.
