| Obverse description | At the center, the solar and lunar discs are depicted within a band of twelve zodiac signs encircling the field. Below the central motif, the astrological symbol of Capricorn appears alongside the Latin inscription CAPRICORN and the Belarusian Cyrillic legend КАЗЯРОГ. The State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus is positioned at the top of the field. The circumferential legend reads РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ at the top and 1 РУБЕЛЬ at the bottom, with the date of issue 2009 at the lower left. |

Part of Belarus's long-running zodiac series, this copper-nickel rouble was issued as a collectible rather than a circulation piece — the National Bank of Belarus became prolific in the 2000s with themed collector coins, partly as a revenue-generating exercise during a period when the Belarusian rouble was chronically weak against hard currencies.
