Part of Russia's long-running "Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" series, this rouble was issued to mark the armoured branch — the tank forces that trace their Soviet lineage directly to the massive armoured doctrine developed after the catastrophic early losses of Operation Barbarossa in 1941. The Central Bank has produced dozens of these small-format silver issues across various military branches, and collector fatigue with the series is well documented in the secondary market.
Mintage figures for individual issues in this run vary considerably, and some branch-specific pieces have proven genuinely scarce in hindsight.
