| 裏面の説明 | At centre, the emblem of the Airborne Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is depicted in high relief, featuring a stylised grenade with outstretched wings and a parachute canopy surmounting a sword, symbolising the airborne assault mission. The design occupies the majority of the coin's field. A curved inscription along the lower rim reads «ВОЗДУШНО-ДЕСАНТНЫЕ ВОЙСКА» (Airborne Troops), completing the heraldic composition. |

Part of the Bank of Russia's long-running series honoring branches of the armed forces, this rouble was issued the same year Russia was restructuring its airborne divisions following doctrinal reviews prompted by the Chechen campaigns. The VDV — Vozdushno-Desantnye Voyska — traces its institutional identity to August 1930, when the first experimental parachute drop near Voronezh demonstrated Soviet ambitions for vertical envelopment tactics that would later influence airborne doctrine worldwide.
The .925 silver one-rouble format was a deliberate collector designation; these never circulated.
