The Diomede Islands sit in the Bering Strait, split between the United States and Russia by an international boundary that also serves as the International Date Line — making Big Diomede (Russian) and Little Diomede (American) literally a day apart despite being less than four kilometers from each other. Neither island has ever issued currency under any recognized monetary authority. These "roubles" are privately produced fantasy pieces with no official issuing body, no government authorization, and no place in any legitimate numismatic series.
