Obverse description A crowned king stands full-length within a ship, depicted facing the viewer, his right hand brandishing an upraised sword and his left hand bearing a shield charged with the provincial arms of Zeeland. On the ship's stern, a banner displaying a rampant lion to the left is prominently featured. The design is executed in the medieval tradition, closely emulating the English rose noble prototype. The circumferential legend in Latin encircles the entire composition within a beaded border.
