Reverse description The reverse presents a fully colored depiction of Orry, the official mascot of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, rendered as an Arabian oryx dressed in athletic cycling attire and riding a red racing bicycle. The mascot figure is applied in vibrant polychrome enamel colors against the gilt aluminium-bronze field, which is densely engraved with a decorative background pattern of repeating lettering and arabesque motifs. The legend 15TH ASIAN GAMES arcs along the upper rim, with DOHA 2006 and ORRY completing the inscription around the periphery in raised Latin letters.

Additional information

Qatar hosted the 15th Asian Games in December 2006 — the first Gulf state to do so — and issued this commemorative alongside a broader campaign built around Orry, the Arabian oryx mascot designed specifically for the event. The oryx had been functionally extinct in the wild by the early 1970s before Qatar and other Gulf states led captive breeding programs that eventually returned the species to the region.
