| Beschrijving voorzijde | The upper legend reads SAMBUTAN JUBLI EMAS along the circumference, identifying the golden jubilee celebration. At centre, a detailed architectural rendering of the Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak (DECTAR), UKM's principal landmark, is flanked by symmetrical geometric designs referencing the institution's fifty-year history. The field features a background of songket-inspired motifs incorporating the national flower, Bunga Raya, framing the university's name inscribed in both Latin and Jawi script. The founding and jubilee years 1970–2020 appear at the base as an interchangeable latent image, shifting when the coin is tilted. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, founded in 1970 as a direct response to the May 13, 1969 racial riots — the university's establishment was explicitly tied to government policy elevating Bahasa Malaysia as the primary medium of instruction in higher education, a politically charged decision in post-riot Malaysia. UKM was the first national university to operate exclusively in Malay, making its founding genuinely contentious at the time.
