Bank Negara issued this commemorative ringgit to mark the centenary of the Girl Guides movement in Malaysia, which traces its founding to 1916 under British colonial administration. Nordic gold — a copper-aluminum-zinc-tin alloy — has been Malaysia's material of choice for commemorative base-metal issues since the mid-2000s, favored for its resistance to toning and its convincing gold-like appearance in hand.
