正面描述 Central field depicts two stylized human figures — a larger adult and a smaller child — standing together on a curved platform, their arms outstretched toward a star-filled sky, rendered in a modern allegorical style evoking exploration and discovery. Several six-pointed stars are scattered across the field to suggest a celestial backdrop. The legend BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 RINGGIT appears in the lower exergue. A secondary inscription THE UNIVERSE / YOURS TO DISCOVER is positioned in the lower central field beneath the figures.

附加信息

The International Year of Astronomy in 2009 marked the 400th anniversary of Galileo's first use of a telescope for systematic astronomical observation, a UNESCO and IAU-coordinated initiative that prompted commemorative issues from dozens of central banks. Bank Negara's participation placed Malaysia among the more scientifically-minded issuers of that year's program.

Nordic gold — the copper-aluminum-zinc-tin alloy developed by the Nordic Mint consortium — was by 2009 already the dominant choice for circulating commemoratives across Southeast Asia, valued for its resistance to corrosion in humid climates.
