| Opmerkingen |
Malaysia's switch to polymer for the 1 Ringgit came as part of the 2012 banknote series rollout — the note was positioned as a direct response to the high replacement costs associated with heavily circulated low-denomination paper notes, which degraded quickly in Malaysia's humid climate. Polymer extended circulation life considerably, reducing printing frequency for the denomination that sees the most transactional wear.
Two governors signed across the series run: Zeti Aziz, who held the post from 2000 through 2016, and Muhammad Ibrahim, who succeeded her. Notes from the same Pick number but with different signatures represent distinct production runs rather than varieties, a distinction worth noting for completeness in a collection.
