Obverse description Typeset letterpress note within a ruled border, the upper portion carrying a Dutch-language text certifying that the bearer holds one Rijksdaalder of 48 stuivers in Indies currency, followed by the equivalent text in Jawi (Malay-Arabic) script occupying the central register. The date line reads "Batavia in 't Casteel den 2 April, 1799" above the denomination confirmation "Rds: Een" and the word "Gezien"; at the lower left a circular VOC monogram handstamp dated 1799 serves as an authentication mark, accompanied by multiple manuscript signatures of Company officials.
