Opmerkingen	Pick 43 was issued to mark Oman's National Day, commemorating the country's declaration of full independence from British treaty obligations in 1971 — though in practice the sultanate had operated with substantial autonomy well before that date. The commemorative framing is somewhat understated for a De La Rue production of this period, when the firm was producing far more elaborate security packages for Gulf issuers. Watermark-only security is notably sparse for a 2005 issue. By that point most comparable commemorative notes in the region carried security threads, color-shifting ink, or both.
