| 正面描述 | The obverse features the national emblem of Oman at centre — a crossed khanjar dagger and two crossed swords over a belt — rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. Concentric rings frame the central device, with Arabic legend reading 'البنك المركزي العماني سلطنة عمان ريال واحد' inscribed in the inner ring, and the English legend 'CENTRAL BANK OF OMAN' along the lower periphery and 'SULTANATE OF OMAN' along the middle register. The denomination 'ONE RIAL' appears in the left field in Latin script, with 'ريال واحد' in Arabic to the right. Two small five-pointed stars punctuate the field at the three o'clock and nine o'clock positions. |

Barkat Al-Mauz castle sits at the mouth of Wadi Muaydin in the Hajar al-Gharbi mountains, and its selection for this issue reflects the Omani government's broader 1990s program of documenting pre-petroleum architectural heritage on commemorative coinage. The castle dates to the late seventeenth century and served as a seasonal residence for the Imams of Oman during the Yaruba dynasty — the same political lineage that expelled the Portuguese from Muscat in 1650.
