| Reverse description | The reverse displays a detailed relief view of Barkat Al-Mauz Castle, a historic Omani fortification rendered in fine engraving with crenellated towers, battlemented walls, and a flagpole visible above the central tower. The Arabic legend 'حصن بركة الموز' arcs across the upper field. The English inscription 'BARKAT-AL-MAUZ CASTLE' is positioned in two lines below the castle in the lower centre field. The dual date '1416H-1995G' appears in the lower left in Latin numerals and '١٤١٦هـ - ١٩٩٥م' in Arabic numerals at the lower right, referencing both the Hijri and Gregorian calendars. |

| Additional information |
Barkat Al-Mauz castle sits at the mouth of Wadi Muaydin in the Hajar al-Gharbi mountains, and its selection for this issue reflects the Omani government's broader 1990s program of documenting pre-petroleum architectural heritage on commemorative coinage. The castle dates to the late seventeenth century and served as a seasonal residence for the Imams of Oman during the Yaruba dynasty — the same political lineage that expelled the Portuguese from Muscat in 1650.
