Descrição do reverso A detailed architectural view of Barka Fort occupies the central field, depicted in a slightly elevated perspective that reveals its crenellated battlements, corner towers, arched gateway, and a cannon positioned in the foreground at the base of the walls. The Arabic legend 'قلعة بركاء' (Barka Fort) is inscribed along the upper arc in a stylised cursive script. The Latin inscription 'BARKA FORT' appears in the lower central field beneath the fortress, with the dual-calendar date '1416H-1995G' in Latin numerals to the lower left and its Arabic equivalent '١٤١٦هـ - ١٩٩٥م' to the lower right.

Informações adicionais

Barka Fort, built in the seventeenth century and extensively restored in the 1990s under an Omani government heritage program, sits on the Al Batinah coast northwest of Muscat. The restoration effort was ongoing at virtually the same moment this coin was struck, making the issue a near-contemporaneous document of that conservation push rather than a retrospective one. Sultan Qaboos's systematic rehabilitation of pre-modern Omani fortifications — dozens of them — was one of the more deliberate nation-building programs of his reign, funded substantially by oil revenues that simply did not exist a generation earlier.
