Mô tả mặt sau A detailed panoramic view of Al-Jalali Fort fills the central field, depicting the historic Portuguese-built fortification perched dramatically upon its rocky promontory overlooking Muscat harbour, with crenellated towers and battlements faithfully rendered. The Arabic legend 'قلعة الجلالي' (Al-Jalali Fort) arcs across the upper field. Below the fort, the Latin inscription 'AL-JALALI FORT' appears in the lower field, flanked on either side by the dual-dated inscription '1416H-1995G' in Latin numerals and its Arabic equivalent '١٤١٦هـ-١٩٩٥م', denoting both the Hijri and Gregorian years of issue.

Thông tin bổ sung

Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said's accession, which followed his 1970 palace coup against his own father, Said bin Taimur. The elder sultan had ruled with extreme isolationism — banning radios, eyeglasses, and foreign travel — leaving Oman one of the most underdeveloped nations in the region despite growing oil revenues. Qaboos reversed course immediately, using petroleum income to build roads, hospitals, and schools within a single decade.

Al-Jalali Fort, constructed by the Portuguese in the 1580s on a rocky outcrop above Muscat harbour, served as a prison well into the twentieth century.
