| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a detailed relief view of the Al Nahda Tower (Burj Al Nahda) in Muscat, a historic fortification rendered in the centre of the field, flanked by a palm tree to the right and low scrubland to the left, conveying a sense of the Omani landscape. The Arabic legend 'العيد الوطني السابع والعشرون' arcs along the upper border, with the date '١٩٩٧' at upper right and the denomination 'ريال ١' also in Arabic script.
