Aanvullende informatie

The Tunisian Regency's billon coinage of this period reflects a monetary system under perpetual strain — chronic silver shortages forced the Husainid beys to issue increasingly debased alloys throughout the early nineteenth century, and the rial denomination bore the brunt of that debasement. Mahmud II had little direct control over Tunisian fiscal policy; the beys operated with substantial autonomy, and local mint decisions were effectively theirs to make.

KM#82 spans nearly a decade of production, meaning examples vary considerably in die quality and alloy consistency across the run.
