Obverse description Central field bears the royal titles and name of Fath Ali Shah Qajar inscribed in flowing nastaliq script arranged across multiple registers. The interstices of the field are filled with stylized floral ornaments composed of clusters of four to six raised dots, a characteristic decorative device of early Qajar coinage. The legend reads: 'Al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Fath Ali Shah Qajar.' The overall design is framed by a plain raised rim with a beaded inner border visible on well-struck examples.
