Obverse description The central field bears a bold Nasta'liq calligraphic legend in Arabic script arranged in three registers, reading the royal titulature of Fath Ali Shah Qajar. A horizontal cartouche divides the inscription, with the upper register containing the name and epithets of the Shah above it and the dynastic title below. The field is adorned with small rosette or pellet ornaments scattered throughout, characteristic of Qajar mint artistry. The legends are rendered in flowing, deeply struck calligraphy typical of early nineteenth-century Iranian hammered coinage.
