| Reverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Nasta'liq calligraphic inscription identifying the mint and regnal year, arranged in horizontal registers within an oval cartouche formed by elegant floral scrollwork and arabesque ornaments. Scattered pellets (raised dots) punctuate the field between the decorative elements, a hallmark of Qajar die engraving. An outer border of large raised beads defines the periphery, following the coin's irregular, hand-struck edge. The lower register displays the AH date 1222 in Eastern Arabic numerals. The composition reads 'Zarb Dar al-Marz Rasht 1222', denoting a striking at the frontier mint of Rasht. |
