附加信息	Oman's National Day commemorates the 1970 coup in which Qaboos bin Said deposed his father, Said bin Taimur, in a palace takeover backed by British intelligence and the SAS. Said bin Taimur had kept Oman deliberately isolated — banning sunglasses, radios, and most travel — and Qaboos moved immediately to modernize the country using oil revenues that his father had largely refused to deploy. The 39th anniversary places this issue in 2009, thirty-nine years after that coup.
