Obverse description Central field bears the Arabic legend 'Jomhuri-ye Eslami-ye Iran' (Islamic Republic of Iran) in two lines above the denomination 'Yek Rial' (One Rial), all enclosed within a wreath of stylised tulip flowers arranged around the inner border. The tulip motif, a symbol of martyrdom in post-revolutionary Iranian iconography, frames the inscriptions in a decorative ring. The outer border is beaded throughout.
