1 Reichsmark

Stuttgart's municipal authorities issued this note in 1945 under the emergency provisions that allowed German cities and districts to produce local currency (Notgeld) as the Reich's financial infrastructure collapsed. Allied bombing had severely disrupted both supply chains and banking functions across Württemberg by early 1945, and municipal scrip filled the vacuum left by the disappearing Reichsmark supply.

Late-war municipal issues of this type were often printed on whatever paper stock was available locally, and the quality varies considerably within the same series. Stuttgart fell to French forces in late April 1945, after which this note would have had an extremely brief remaining window of practical use.
