正面描述 Full-length frontal figure of Saint Sebaldus, patron saint of Nuremberg, robed in long clerical garments and holding a model of the Sebalduskirche (St. Sebald's Church) in his left hand. The saint stands above a horizontally divided shield bearing the imperial eagle on the left and the Nuremberg city arms on the right, with the date 16-60 divided to either side of the central figure. The legend RESPUBLICA NORIMBERG arcs across the upper field in Latin characters. The coin displays finely detailed baroque engraving characteristic of Nuremberg civic coinage of the mid-seventeenth century.

附加信息

By 1660, Nuremberg had spent decades recovering from the Thirty Years' War, which had gutted the city's population and commerce more severely than almost any other major German urban center. The Reichsguldiner — a denomination tied to the old gulden tradition rather than the thaler standard that was rapidly becoming dominant — was already an anachronism by this date, and Nuremberg's continued striking of the type reflects the city's conservative monetary conservatism and its insistence on maintaining its own civic coinage privileges against increasing Imperial pressure.

The Dav SG#99 attribution places this within the Davenport Supplement to German secular coinages, a narrower reference that distinguishes Nuremberg's civic issues from its more widely catalogued thaler series.
